  • The Regional Food Systems Working Group supports education, conducts research, and facilitates partnerships to increase investment and support of community-based, economically sustainable, and environmentally and socially responsible regional food enterprises.

  • Research and document existing or potential economic, community and environmental impacts of regional and community-based food and fiber enterprises
  • Increase participation and cooperation among various colleges and departments at ISU, other Iowa university business and marketing centers/departments, economic development groups and lending institutions
  • Share project results with producers and others throughout the value chain who want to become involved in regional and community-based food system businesses
  • Link regional and community-based food system businesses with economic development
  • Improve community and ecological health and help farms and agricultural businesses achieve a greater level of success
